Joseph A. Lukas Vice President

Joseph A. Lukas is the Project Management Practice Director for ConsultUSA and serves as the Vice-President of PMCentersUSA. He is a thought leader and keynote presenter on the subjects of project management and business analysis. Joe’s expertise is the result of more than 30 years of experience in project management and business analysis spanning numerous industries, including manufacturing, product development, information technology and construction. Joe also has program and portfolio management as well as international projects experience.

His recognized areas of expertise include scheduling, earned-value analysis, risk management, and interpersonal skills development such as managing effectively through understanding emotional intelligence and personality styles. Joe has been a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI)® since 1985 and earned his Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification in 1992.

Joe leads the experienced and skilled consultant/instructor team for PMCentersUSA and is responsible for execution of repeatable solutions as well as the development and quality of the organization’s courseware, tools and templates. While Joe still enjoys serving as an Instructor for PMCentersUSA, he also provides PM Mentoring, Executive Coaching, and Consulting Services, and lends his expertise in the customization of private training programs for companies and organizations as part of enterprise solutions in the areas of Business Analysis and Project Management.

With more than 30 published articles on various project management topics, Joe is a frequent keynote and guest speaker at numerous PMI® and IIBA® global and chapter-level events that draw project professionals from around the world who are seeking practical ways to improve performance and meet their organization’s strategic objectives through effective project management. An Engineer by trade, Joe received the Jan Korevaar Outstanding Paper Award in 2008 on the subject of Earned Value Analysis at the combined sixth World Congress on Cost Engineering and AACE International 52nd Annual Meeting. Joe is the recipient of the 2017 AACE Technical Excellence Award, which is given in recognition of outstanding technical contributions made by an individual in the project and cost management community.

While living in Rochester, New York, Joe was very active with the local PMI® chapter, serving in various leadership positions including two terms as chapter President. His efforts in expanding the Rochester Chapter were recognized in 2001 when Joe received the Chapter award for outstanding contributions. Joe has also been a guest instructor on project management for many universities, including the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Stevens Institute, the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport, St. John Fisher College, and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Joe graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and received his Professional Engineer license in 1979. He became a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) for the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) and has served on the Genesee Valley Section Board in various positions, including Section President. He earned his Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) credential in 2013.
